One-Off Pottery Studio
ABOUT ME
Hi - I'm Jacqui.
What started as a hobby, has now become a full-time occupation for me.
Handmade ceramic vessels are deeply intimate objects that nourish, sustain and bear witness to life's most personal moments. I explore form, colour, texture and symbolic meaning to express my sentiments about our relationship with the environment, gender and identity. My forms are simple, suggestive, asymmetrical and serpentine, reminiscent of the earth and human body. Vibrant hues, complex layered textured glazes are central to my storytelling, expressing my emotions and inner chaos.
I’m inspired by the art, chemistry and alchemy of ceramics. The transformation of earth, fire, and water into something fragile and enduring. I love unpredictability, the richness of materials, techniques and surprises.
With training in Australia, Denmark and Italy, I established OoPs – One-off Pottery Studio in 2019. Based in Hampton, I make, teach and provide firing services. I teach wheel-throwing at my studio, as well as the Beaumaris Art Group and Brighton Recreation Centre.
